Galen Weston Jr steps down as Loblaws CEO, receives thank you card from "eat the rich" activists

OTTAWA, ON - Galen Weston Jr, former CEO of Loblaws, recently announced his retirement, much to the chagrin of “eat the rich” activists across the country. But in a surprising turn of events, the activists sent him a thank you card, expressing their gratitude for his years of service and contributions to the economy.

“I know it may seem strange, but we actually appreciate Mr. Weston’s hard work and dedication to making Loblaws a successful business,” said one activist, who wished to remain anonymous. “Sure, he got paid well, but that’s just a small price to pay for the convenience of being able to buy all our groceries in one place.”

The thank you card was filled with heartfelt messages from activists who have been known for their “eat the rich” mentality. Some even went as far as to apologize for their previous comments and actions, acknowledging that the success of companies like Loblaws is essential to the Canadian economy.

“I used to hate on Weston because he made more money than me,” said one activist. “But then I realized that he’s responsible for creating jobs, generating revenue, and giving back to the community in countless ways. Plus, have you seen the Joe Fresh clothing line? It’s fantastic.”

The news of the thank you card has taken the country by storm, with many expressing their surprise at the unexpected gesture.

“I never thought I’d see the day where ’eat the rich’ activists would be thanking one of the wealthiest CEOs in the country,” said a political commentator. “But I guess it just goes to show that even the most extreme views can be tempered by a little bit of humor and gratitude.”

As for Weston himself, he declined to comment on the thank you card, but it’s rumored that he’s framed it and hung it up in his retirement home, next to his collection of antique cheese knives.

In any case, it seems that the “eat the rich” movement may have softened its stance, at least towards one of its former targets. Who knows, maybe next they’ll be thanking Jeff Bezos for all those free Amazon Prime trials.
